Jennifer Daly is the Director of Anahata Yoga Center and a primary teacher. She has practiced yoga for over 18 years. She is registered with the National Yoga Alliance as a 500-level instructor and she has studied Iyengar yoga with national teachers, including John Schumacher, Aadil Palkhivala, Dean Lerner, Ramanand Patel, Laurie Blakeley, Richard Rosen and others. She has studied Ashtanga yoga with Tim Miller, Richard Freeman, Kino McGregor, Beryl Bender Birch, Michael Stone and others. She has also studied with Dharma Mittra, Sean Corn, Paul Grilley and other teachers. She has taught yoga in Williamsburg since 2003. She holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a focus on mindfulness and holistic psychotherapy among adults and seniors. Her classes emphasize connections between mind and body as a way to foster health and well being. Classes include detailed instructions on physical postures, mental focus and breath control. She encourages students to experience yoga as a practice to purify and strengthen mind, body and spirit.

Sheila Conrad

 

Sheila Conrad has been a Tai Chi practitioner for 32 years. She teaches the traditional Yang Style Long Form (108 movements) that was taught to her teacher, Ruth Naiman. This form emphasizes the physical, mental and spiritual balance created by the continuous flow of energy between yin and yang. Sheila began teaching Tai Chi in Los Angeles 23 years ago, and she has taught in New Kent County and Williamsburg since moving here in 2002. In addition to teaching the Yang Style Long Form, Sheila has developed a form of Tai Chi specifically for Seniors and Chair Tai Chi for people who cannot walk unassisted.

 


 
 


 

Carolyn E. Felling, RYT 200

 

Carolyn

Carolyn Felling has practiced yoga for over eight years. She is registered with the National Yoga Alliance as a 200-level instructor. Her yoga training emphasized Iyengar and Vinyasa styles of yoga. Carolyn’s work as a teacher and elementary school administrator for over 37 years has taught her the value of a calm and steady mind. She continues her work in education at the School Leadership Institute in the School of Education at the College of William and Mary. Her yoga classes emphasize a gentle, fun-loving spirit with instruction in how to increase physical strength and energy, grace, flexibility and well-being for all ages.

 

 

 


 

 

Caroline garrett, ryt 200

Caroline

Caroline earned her 200-hour yoga registration from the Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC in 2002.  Her training emphasized vinyasa styles of yoga, but also included classes in Ashtanga, Anusara, Kundalini, Bikram and Iyengar styles.  She has taught yoga at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC and at the YMCA in Smithfield and Newport News, VA.  Caroline has practiced yoga with Jennifer and other teachers at AYC since 2007 and she has served as a teaching assistant at AYC since 2008.  Caroline's teaching encourages creativity and flow through yoga postures, breathwork and meditation.  Caroline also teaches courses in traditional and digital art for the Fine Art and Art History Department of Christopher Newport University. She is currently studying the ancient art of mandalas with Judith Cornell, Ph.D.

Jean began her practice with Integral-style yoga in 1971 and she has maintained an active practice in Iyengar-style yoga since 1992.  Her 35 years of personal practice have included classes with Rosie Taylor and Jennifer Daly and workshops with advanced teachers, including Dean Lerner, Cindy Lee and Janet MacLeod.  She completed her 200-hour teacher training in Mexico in February 2009, and she is registered as a yoga teacher with the National Yoga Alliance. She has been a resident of Williamsburg for over 30 years and she retired as Laboratory Manager of Eastern State Hospital in April 2006.  She served as the studio manager of Anahata Yoga Center of Williamsburg for over 2 years.  Jean's teaching blends Iyengar yoga's anatomical approach to physical postures with Integral yoga’s emphasis on breathing and deep relaxation. Her classes are strengthening, toning, uplifting and deeply relaxing.

 

 

 


Katie Meuse, Ryt 200

Katie Meuse, RYT 200 has practiced yoga for over 10 years. She received her yoga teacher training from Satsang Yoga Center in Garrison, NY in 2004 and her prenatal yoga training in 2005. Her classes emphasize breath, alignment, vinyasa, meditation and self-nurturing. She encourages students to cultivate compassion and to experience the divine within themselves.

 

 


Lakshmi Sutter, E-RYT500

Lakshmi Sutter, eRYT500, has been a student of movement since childhood. She is a student of Sri Swami Satchidananda and lived in his yoga-based ashram for five years. She is certified to teach Integral Yoga Hatha at all levels and she enthusiastically shares her fascination with the human body during basic anatomy workshops. She also trains Integral Yoga teachers at the beginning and intermediate levels and serves as the IY Director of Therapeutic Yoga. Lakshmi has been fortunate to study Yoga and it’s sister science, Ayurveda, with Erich Schiffmann, Dr. David Frawley and Mukunda Stiles. Her supportive instruction is suitable for a wide range of physical levels, with class approaches ranging from gentle and restorative to energetic and challenging. Classes emphasize steadiness, comfort and awareness. Lakshmi moved to this area in 2009 to return to her chosen field of ecology where she is currently pursuing a doctorate in marine science.


Kim wallace, RYT 200

 

Kim Wallace has practiced yoga for about 8 years and she has studied Ashtanga and vinyasa styles of yoga at Anahata Yoga Center for over two years. She is recently completed her yoga teacher training with an emphasis on Integral-style yoga. She will participate in Anahata Yoga Center's mentorship program this session.

 

 


Ying Zhang, RYT200

Ying Zhang, RYT200 moved to the U.S. from China five years ago. She recently completed a master's degree in English Literature at Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her training in hatha yoga in May 2009 and she will participate in Anahata's mentorship program this fall. Ying's classes draw from ancient Chinese teachings in Yin/Yang andZen Buddhism to encourage harmony in body, mind and spirit.
